In tackling the global challenges facing our region, e.g. climate change, social inequalities, digital transition, circular economy, food transition and research, Métropole Européenne de Lille (MEL) has set itself the goal of being at the forefront of the economic transformation of the region and its businesses, but also of creating the conditions for a sustainable and efficient solidarity economy geared towards employment.

In this context, innovation is becoming a key instrument for transforming our society and delivering innovative solutions to meet these challenges. It is with this in mind that Métropole Européenne de Lille (MEL) is working to promote innovation in the region with the programmes it provides or supports. These programmes are part of the following:

The Regional Climate Air Energy Plan ("PCAET") aims to reduce climate change in the region and tackle it through innovation by reducing greenhouse gases or increasing renewable energy production.

The Strategic Project for the Economic Transformation of the Region ("PSTET") aims to create a high-performance and less vulnerable economy that contributes to the fight against climate change, the reduction of social divides and the fight against inequalities in the regions.

The Regional Food Project ("PAT") aims to speed up the agricultural and food transition by bringing together the various stakeholders in the region to address the issue of food, thereby helping to take into consideration the social, environmental, economic and health aspects.

The Metropolitan Plan for Higher Education, Research and Innovation ("SMESRI") aims to boost the appeal of research and training in the region and to build strategic partnerships for developing the economy and employment

The circular economy roadmap aims to promote all initiatives in the region to reduce and recycle waste, and promote full employment.

Innovation will help to support our three driving ambitions in the region, i.e. to support, revitalise and transform for a sustainable future and anticipate future trends.
